Sapporo is the top ranked location so far and the first place visited. It is also very reasonable cost wise with food and accommodations all in the sweet spot for the re:Travled way of living abroad. It is a must go location!

What’s great about Sapporo?
The beer of course, but there are many reasons when you take a closer look at Sapporo. There is the famous winter snow festival, the summer offers very nice and mild weather, especially compared to most places in Asia. Summer time also is full of festivals and an incredible beer garden with offerings from all the major breweries in Japan. Ask any Japanese person where the best food is and they will tell you Hokkaido, which is the prefecture that Sapporo is locate.
About the city
Sapporo is a city of about 2 million people, large enough to offer great services but small enough that you don’t feel overwhelmed. There is a wonderful downtown with numerous shops and restaurants, 3 metro lines, a streetcar, bus service, great train service and the Shinkansen (bullet train) will be extended to Sapporo by 2030.
