Grocery shopping in Japan

When you are staying for long periods of time in any once place it is inevitable that you decide it necessary to get some food so every meal is not in a restaurant or out of a continence store package. Japanese grocery stores are really nice and well stocked with amazing produce, meats and yummy snacks you would struggle to find outside of Japan.

Shopping is like any other place with a couple nuances. You should bring your own bag. Which brings up the second item and that is that bagging does not happen where you pay, you put your things back into the cart and move to a table beyond the cashier where you bag your groceries.

Just remember the steps

Set products for cashier > Cashier politely cashiers > find point of sale system > pay > move groceries back into cart > look for the table beyond the payment point > move there and pack your groceries.

Easy!
